This site supports the Scouting activities of
the Quanah Parker District within the
South Plains
Council
of the Boy Scouts of America.
The Quanah Parker District covers the southwestern portion of the
South Plains Council and includes the counties of Yoakum, Terry, Lynn, Gaines and Dawson. Communities within our District include Brownfield, Denver City, Plains, Tahoka, Seminole and others in this region. The
units in our area are sponsored by local schools, churches and civic
organizations. Scouts benefit the local community through service
projects, Eagle projects and area wide “Good Turns.”
The district also hosts its own chapter of the Nakona Lodge of Scouting's national honor society,
the Order of the Arrow. This is an excellent way to involve exemplary Scouts in service to their units, the district, council and community and to add to the excitement for the older scout program.
District Contacts and InformationOur District Director is Katy Tabor, who can be contacted via the Council Office as listed on the South Plains Council Web site, or directly by email at this address. Thomas Hicklen is the District Chairman and OA Chapter Advisor, and Heather Wheeless serves as District Commissioner. Roundtables and District Committee meetings are generally held the second Tuesday evening of each month beginning at 7:00 pm at The Abundant Harvest Church, 101 S. 4th Street, Brownfield TX. Roundtables provide a great way for ALL adult leaders and youth interested in improving the value and quality of the Scouting program for their units to learn how to do so, by sharing information among those from various units. Order of the Arrow chapter meetings are encouraged to be held at the same time and evening at the same location. Please contact our District Chair or Commissioner or our District Director for more information.
